After a week of cool weather with continuous rain, my yard is filled with mushrooms. They have popped up everywhere in my grass. Why are there mushrooms in my yard? And how do I get rid of them?

Wild mushrooms in my yard
Relax! Chill out! Stop worrying! Mushrooms growing in your yard indicates healthy soil. Mushrooms love cool, moist spots. My yard always fills with mushrooms after significant rain.

Mushrooms in neighbor's yard
The mushrooms are harmless. They will not spread. Next time you cut your grass, the mushroom’s tops will be chopped off, and the mushrooms will not grow back.
So relax. Not everything is a crisis. Enjoy (until your next mow) the beautiful mushrooms in your yard!
NOTE: DO NOT EAT THESE WILD MUSHROOMS! Some mushrooms are poisonous. It is often difficult to tell which are poisonous and which are not. DO NOT EAT THE MUSHROOMS GROWING IN YOUR YARD!
While We Are Discussing Mushrooms…
If you love mushrooms and happen to visit Da Lat Vietnam, I highly recommend going to the Dalat Mushroom Farm.

Inside the Da Lat Mushroom Farm
They give you a tour of the indoor mushroom growing facility, and teach you all about how mushrooms are grown. Very interesting!

They even let you pick mushrooms which they then cook for you. You can also buy mushrooms at the end of the tour.

My Grab driver in Da Lat, after learning my interests, recommended visiting the Da Lat Mushroom Farm during my December 2024 trip to Vietnam.
